He enlisted as a private and\u00a0 is listed as a POW on august 29, 1861 at Fort Hatteras, NC. Transferred\u00a0 Company Ind, Capt. W.A. Duke&#8217;s Regiment North Carolina on September 15,1861 and returned on February 20,1862.\u00a0 He was discharged from Company I, 32nd Infantry\u00a0 on\u00a0April 2, 1862.\u00a0 His unit was also referred to as the &#8216;Jonesboro Guards&#8217;.
