Will of<\/span><\/p>\n

GAMIEL WRIGHT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

1842<\/span><\/p>\n

State of North Carolina, Camden county<\/span><\/p>\n

I Gamiel Wright<\/strong> being of sound mind and memory blessed be God do this <\/span>29th day of January 1840 make and publish this my last will and <\/span>testament. I give my property in the following manner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item 1: I give and bequeath all of my land and plantation where on I <\/span>now live to be equally divided between Gamiel Wright<\/strong> and Burfoot Wright<\/strong> <\/span>sons of Benjamin Wright<\/strong> dec\u2019d to them and their heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item 2: I give and bequeath to Mary Williams<\/strong> the land that I bought of <\/span>Jno. Williams<\/strong> to her and her heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item 2: I give and bequeath to Mary Porter<\/strong> two negroes namely ? and <\/span>girl ? to her and her heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item 3: I leave the use of negro man Isaac to Francis Garrett<\/strong> during <\/span>her natural life and at her death I give him to her lawful heirs <\/span>forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item 4: I leave my negro woman Phillis and one half of negro man named <\/span>Simon to be sold by my executor and the money paid to Priscilla <\/strong><\/span>Legrange<\/strong> at fifty dollars from sale and if the said Priscilla<\/strong> should <\/span>not to live to use the sale of said negroes and in that case I give the <\/span>balance left at her death to her heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item 5: I give one half of negro man George to Mary Stephens<\/strong> at the <\/span>death of Susan Taylor<\/strong> to her and her heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item 6: I leave all of my chattle, property not already given away to <\/span>be sold by my executor and after paying all of my just debts and lawful <\/span>expenses I give the balance thats left in his hands to Mary Stephens <\/strong><\/span>the wife of Luke Stephens<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item 7: And lastly I nominate and appoint my worthy friend John S. <\/strong><\/span>Burgess<\/strong> executor to this my last will ans testament in witness whereof <\/span>I here unto set my hand and seal day and date first above written.<\/span><\/p>\n

Camden county court Sept. Term 1842<\/span><\/p>\n

This last will and testament of G. W. Wright<\/strong> was exhibited in open <\/span>court and the executor of said will was proved in open court in due <\/span>form of law by D. C. Bell<\/strong> one of the subscribing witnesses there to and <\/span>John Burgess<\/strong> executor named in said will come into open court and <\/span>qualified as such by taking the necessary oath whereupon it was ordered <\/span>by the court to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n
