Her obituary read as follows: NEWTON - Gertrude Murray Robinson, 101, formerly of Maiden, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Abernethy Center in Newton. Born June 12, 1903, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Oley D. and Mattie Sigmon Murray. She was a member of Mays Chapel United Methodist Church in Maiden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd B. Robinson; a daughter, Mary Francis Robinson Stewart; three sisters, Maude Pleasants, Jessie Arndt and Lois Buchanan; seven brothers, Fred, Rowland, Lambert, Paul, Harry, Ralph and Webb Murray; and three grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Nell Robinson and husband, John, of Morganton; a son-in-law, Jack Stewart of Tennessee; four grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Mays Chapel United Methodist Church in Maiden with the Rev. Ralph Lepley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
