41. David Newton McCORKLE was born on 16 Feb 1829 in Lincoln Co., NC. He died on 9 Jan 1862 in Richmond, VA. David McCorkle was the youngest child of the Francis, Jr. family. He died in the hospital in Richmond, Virginia during the civil war. His unit was the 13 NC Volunteers

He was married to Rhoda Salome SMITH on 12 Feb 1856. Rhoda Salome SMITH was born on 13 Jul 1830. She died on 9 Apr 1917. David Newton McCORKLE and Rhoda Salome SMITH had the following children:

101 i. Frank Smith McCORKLE was born on 9 Feb 1857. He died on 13 Sep 1872.
102 ii. William S. McCORKLE was born on 9 Feb 1857. He died on 13 Sep 1872.
