CATAWBA - Davis Theodore Loftin, 63, of Sherrills Ford Road, Catawba, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
Born Dec. 6, 1941, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Loftin and Fannie Marie Hoke Loftin.
He was a member of Center United Methodist Church in Catawba.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Abernathy.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Emma Lou Mayhew Loftin of the home; a son, Michael Loftin of Catawba; a daughter, Mechelle Howard and husband, Thomas, of Catawba; a sister, Peggy Brotherton of Catawba; two granddaughters, Christina Clark of Catawba and April Loftin of Sherrills Ford; a grandson, Jessie James Loftin of Maiden; a great-granddaughter, Lacie Clark of Catawba; a niece, Faye Dellinger of Catawba; and three nephews, Barry Brotherton and Jerry Abernathy of Catawba and Randy Abernathy of Claremont.
A memorial service will be held today, Monday, May 2, 2005, at 7 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton, with Dr. Charles Loftin officiating.

The family will receive friends today, Monday, from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at Burke Mortuary prior to the service.
