Margaret Jan SCHERMERHORN was born on 3 July 1940 in Springfield, Sangamon County, IL. She died on 25 January 2010 at the age of 69 in Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Margaret Jan Schermerhorn Killian, 69, of Hickory and formerly of Springfield, Ill., passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born July 3, 1940, in Springfield, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Roland Earl and Eloise Dudley Schermerhorn. Mrs. Killian was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband, Alfred John Killian of the home; two daughters, Diane Killian Wesson and husband, Gene, of Claremont and Donna Killian Collins and husband, Philip, of Hickory; a brother, James D. Schermerhorn and wife, Darlene, of Sherman, Ill.; a grandson, Cody Wesson of Claremont; a granddaughter, Natalie Collins of Hickory; a number of nieces and nephews; and her faithful cat, Kittyboy. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, with Pastors David Keck and Scott Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight, Wednesday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.
