Born Nov. 29, 1921, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Alma Witherspoon Setzer. She was a longtime member of Abernethy United Methodist Church and had retired as a manager from Pic-N-Pay shoe store in Newton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Woodrow Wilson Murray of Newton; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Smith and husband, Scott, of Maiden; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Murray and wife, Charlotte, of Raleigh; and four grandchildren, Lauren and Blake Smith, John Cameron and Michael Murray. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at Abernethy United Methodist Church. The Rev. James Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.
