Robena FRY was born on 25 December 1923 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 4 July 2006 at the age of 82 in Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. She was buried in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Robena Frye Starnes, 82, of Hickory, died July 4, 2006, at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 25, 1923, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Uris Franklin Frye and Ollie Lafone Frye Beard. She was a life-long member, for more than 60 years, of Huntington Hills Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Eli Starnes; a grandson, Curtis Michael Kilgore; a great-granddaughter, Erin Ashton Megan Kilgore; a son, Robert Steven Starnes; a daughter, Diane Starnes Kilgore; brothers, Hershel Frye of Baltimore, Md., Blace (Pluto) Frye of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jerry Beard of Hickory, Eddie Beard of Maryland, Harvey Beard of Florida, Boyd Beard of Hickory, and Robert Beard of Nashville, Tenn.; and sisters, Beatrice Eckerd and Georgia Schell of Hickory and Willie Mae (Bill) Propes of Charlotte. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy Starnes Honeycutt and H.M. Honeycutt Jr. of Salisbury; a son, Joseph Eugene Starnes of Hickory; a brother, Marshall Beard of Taylorsville; a sister, Margaret Beard Frye of Hickory; three grandsons, Wesley Starnes and Von Starnes of Hickory and Eddy Kilgore of Portland, Ore.; four granddaughters, Sonya Starnes of Hickory, Jennifer Koscheck of Boone, Tracy Seaford of Salisbury and Jody McDaniels of Statesville; six great-grandsons, Bradley Pendleton, Adam Starnes and Joshua Mecimore of Hickory, Scott McDaniels and Corbin McDaniels of Statesville and Logan Haas of Salisbury; six great-granddaughters, Caroline Starnes and Jessica Reitzel of Hickory, Jaylon Koscheck of Boone, and Lauren Haas, Emily Seaford and Sidney Seaford of Salisbury; and many loving nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted by Pastors Randall Miller and Garland Grooms at 3 p.m. Thursday at Huntington Hills Church of God. Burial was in Catawba Memorial Park. The family was at the church from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today, Thursday.
