She retired from Thomasville Furniture in Hickory and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she was an organist and choir director. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Sigmon Carter; an infant son, James Timothy Sigmon; a sister, Melita J. Bumgarner; and a sister-in-law, Frances Jones. Survivors include a son, Mark Thomas Sigmon of Hickory; grandchildren, Joshua Carter, Elizabeth Carter, Sarah Deaton and Meredith Sigmon; a great-grandson, Gabriel Browning; a brother, James "Jim" Jones of Conover; nieces, Lynn Henson and Suzanne Lineberger; and nephews, Eric Jones and Tom Bumgarner. A service of remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Conover. The Rev. Jeff Lindsay will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 3916 Springs Road, Conover, N.C. 28613.
