Martha JONES was born on 17 January 1936 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 4 October 2007 at the age of 71 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery on Houston Mill Road, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Martha Jones Sigmon, 71, of Conover, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born Jan. 17, 1936, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Roy Edgar Jones and Rosa Killian Jones. She retired from Thomasville Furniture in Hickory and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she was an organist and choir director. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Sigmon Carter; an infant son, James Timothy Sigmon; a sister, Melita J. Bumgarner; and a sister-in-law, Frances Jones. Survivors include a son, Mark Thomas Sigmon of Hickory; grandchildren, Joshua Carter, Elizabeth Carter, Sarah Deaton and Meredith Sigmon; a great-grandson, Gabriel Browning; a brother, James "Jim" Jones of Conover; nieces, Lynn Henson and Suzanne Lineberger; and nephews, Eric Jones and Tom Bumgarner. A service of remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Conover. The Rev. Jeff Lindsay will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 3916 Springs Road, Conover, N.C. 28613.
