Marcus Elkanah SETZER was born on 10 March 1830 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.150,151,579 His record in the War Between the States is as follows:580 SETZER, MARCUS ELCANAH, Private, Co. E. 57th Regiment, NC Troops - Born on March 10, 1830. Enlisted in Catawba County at age 32, July 4, 1862, for the war. Hospitalized at Richmond, Virginia, October 9, 1862, with chronic catarrh. Returned to duty prior to November 1, 1862. Reported present through October 31, 1863. Captured at Rappahannock Station, Virginia, November 7, 1863. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, November 11, 1863. Died at Point Lookout on March 21, 1865, of "scurvy." He died on 21 March 1865 at the age of 35.151,581,582 Marcus was a member of Co. E, 57th Regt., NC Troops, C.S.A. He enlisted in Catawba County, NC at age 32 as a private on 4 July 1862 for the war; hospitalized at Richmond, VA on 9 October 1862 with "Chronic Catarrh" and returned to duty prior his capture at Rappahannock Station, VA on 7 Nov 1963. He was confined at Point Lookout, MD on 11 November 1863 and died there on 21 March 1865 from Scurvy.
