Doris Annie BOSTIAN was born on 7 February 1917 in Catawba County, North Carolina.¹⁶⁹⁴ She died after a period of declining health on 14 August 2008 at the age of 91 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: GRANITE FALLS - Doris Annie Bostain Eckard, 91, passed away Aug. 14, 2008, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley after a period of declining health. Doris was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Catawba County, to the late Clyde and Cordia Setzer Bostain In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Eckard; daughters, Nancy Bell and Agnes Lail; and two sisters, Gladise Kirby and Dorothy Bostain. Surviving are four sons, Jerry Eckard, Steve Eckard, Ron Eckard and wife, Kim, and Billy Eckard and wife, Jean, all of Granite Falls; four daughters, Judy Lail and husband, Bobby, Marsha Inman, Linda Bedington and husband, Mike, and Brenda Perry and husband, Reid, all of Granite Falls; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, in Sunset Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Floyd Perry officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, Saturday, at Hickory Funeral Home.
