Wade Hampton KILLIAN was born on 21 May 1922 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 14 April 2010 at the age of 87 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. He was buried in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Wade Hampton Killian, 87, of Hickory, passed away April 14, 2010, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born May 21, 1922, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Albert Lawrence and Eula Davis Killian. Mr. Killian was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theater. He retired from Hickory Chair after 43 years of service. He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church and a former member of the American Legion. Mr. Killian was a kind and gentle man who was devoted to his family. He was loved by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christie Helton; sister, Helen Blevins; and brothers, Glen, Donald, Mack, Bill, Lawrence Jr. and John Killian. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Virginia Adams Killian of the home; daughters, Brenda Camp of Hickory and Debra Helton and husband, Wallace, of Hickory; sister, Pearl Sherrill of Hickory; grandchildren, Ashley Fleming, Amanda Camp, Amber Camp, Allen Mackey, Dwayne Mackey, Wayne Mackey and Brandon Helton; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and friends. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Catawba Funerals & Cremations at 3 p.m. with Pastor Dave Keck officiating. Interment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park, with military honors provided by members of American Legion Post 48 of Hickory.
