She was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Newton and had been a seamstress for Newton Glove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Nelson Barlow, and an infant sibling. Survivors include: Her husband: Claude Yount of Newton, NC; 2 daughters & sons-in-law: Betty Barlow Campbell and husband, Greg of Catawba, NC; Judy Barlow Hunley and husband, Richard of Knoxville, TN; A sister: Vinnalee Yow of Kannapolis, NC; 2 brothers: Franklin Travis of Newton, NC; Alvin Travis of Beaufort, SC; Step-Daughter: Patricia Y. Martin of Newton, NC; Step-Son and wife: Bob & Marty Yount of Morganton, NC; 5 grandchildren 7 step-grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren 9 step-great grandchildren; The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2003, at 3:30 PM at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Newton, NC. The Rev. Ralph Abernethy, III, will officiate and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 PM Tuesday at the church. Pallbearers will be: Eric Campbell, Jeff Campbell, John Johnson, Jimmy Smyre, Danny Hagger and Joshua Caldwell. Elizabeth TRAVIS and Nelson BARLOW were married estimated 1941. Nelson BARLOW was born on 3 December 1921. He died on 28 June 1984 at the age of 62. He was buried in Mt. Olive Lutheran Church Cemetery, Newton, North Carolina. Nelson served in the military (Tec4 US Army WW II).

Claude Marion YOUNT, son of Festus Leroy YOUNT and Catherine Ella WIKE, was born on 27 November 1917 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 22 October 2008 at the age of 90 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Mt. Olive Lutheran Church Cemetery, Newton, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: Claude M. Yount, 90, of Newton, NC died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born November 27, 1917 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late F. Lee and Ella Wyke Yount. He was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and was retired from Home Spun Hosiery in Lincolnton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Summa Lail Yount; his second wife, Elizabeth Barlow Yount; sisters, Annie Sigmon, Ruth Hewitt and Mae Setzer; and brothers, William Yount, Robert Yount and Glenn Yount. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Martin of Newton; a son, Bobby Lee Yount and wife, Marty; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Rev. Ralph Abernethy, III will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
