William Neil SETZER was born on 13 December 1934 in Catawba County, North Carolina.²⁸⁹⁸ He died on 28 January 2011 at the age of 76 in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: William Setzer CATAWBA William Neil Setzer, 76, of Catawba, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a brief illness. Born Dec. 13, 1934, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Smith Robinson Setzer and the late Antha Mae Yount Setzer. Neil was a 1952 graduate of Catawba High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and President and CEO of Smith Setzer and Sons, Inc. He was a life member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Claremont and a member of Riverside Masonic Lodge #606, the Scottish Rite of Charlotte and the Oasis Shrine Temple of Charlotte. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ted L. Setzer; and a sister, Barbara Ann Setzer Hines. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Annas Setzer, of Catawba; two sons, Michael Neil Setzer, and his wife, Donna, of Catawba, Representative Mitchell Smith Setzer of Catawba; two grand-daugh-ters, Danielle Setzer Bell, and her husband, Andy, and Lauren Ashley Setzer; one grandson, Matthew Neil Setzer; a great grand-daughter, Violet Isabella Bell; a brother, Jerry Setzer, and his wife, Frances, of Catawba; a sister, Betty Storey, and her husband, George, of Maiden; a brother-in-law, Bobby Hines Sr., of Stony Creek, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Claremont with the Rev. Ronald Lytle officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Neil Setzer, Ricky W. Lee, Randy L. Henderson, Cameron S. Setzer, Troy M. Elmore, L. Andrew Bell, Jeff M. Cline, and Dale K. Cline. A Masonic graveside service will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Claremont.
