Her obituary appeared as follows: Mrs. Alma Tuttle Hunsucker, age 84, of Carillon Assisted Living in Newton, NC, formerly of Conover, NC, passed away March 6, 2004 at the NC Lutheran Home in Hickory, NC. Born November 28, 1919, in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde C. and Pearl Sumpter Tuttle. She had retired as a customer service representative for Bell South after almost 40 years of service. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, NC, where she was a former member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a former assistant Girl Scout leader and was also a member of the Pioneer Club of Southern Bell Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter McDewey Hunsucker, sisters, Jolene Fox and Catherine Phillips, and brother, Billy Tuttle. Survivors include: Daughters & Sons-in-Law: Linda & David Wright Gastonia, NC, Nancy & David Kelley Conover, NC; Grandchildren: Ashley Wright & Jonathan Wright Gastonia, NC; Sisters: Rachel Cloer Lenoir, NC, Hazel Borders Lenoir, NC, Mabel Ledford Lenoir, NC; Brother: Clyde Tuttle Lenoir, NC. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at 4:00 PM, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, NC. The Revs. Donald Oldenburg and John Greig will officiate and the burial will follow in the Conover City Cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Drum Funeral Home in Conover, NC. Pallbearers will be: Roger Hunsucker, Stine Isenhower, Marvin Krueger, Oscar T. Fox, Jr., Carroll Cloer, and Keith Fox. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Hunsucker and Dr. Robert Roach. Memorials may be made to: Concordia Lutheran Church, 216 5th Ave. SE, Conover, NC, 28613.
