2631. Vera Minerva HUNSUCKER was born on 28 September 1912 in Conover, Catawba County, North Carolina.¹⁵⁸⁴ She died on 13 May 2004 at the age of 91 in Abernethy Laurels, Newton, North Carolina. She was buried in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Vera Hunsucker Wagoner, 91, formerly of Conover, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Abernethy Center in Newton. Born Sept. 28, 1912, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Lester E. and Carrie Hunsucker Hunsucker. She was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College and had retired as a bookkeeper. She was a volunteer with Catawba Valley Medical Center and was a homemaker. She was a life-long member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Conover, a member of the Conover Service League and the Tuesday Luncheon Bridge Club. She loved to travel and had traveled extensively. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Wagoner, three sisters, Henrietta Sherrill, Marie Hoke, and Lucille Hunsucker, and four brothers, Joe Hunsucker, Osborne Hunsucker, Paul Hunsucker, and Emory Hunsucker. Survivors include six nieces, Elizabeth “Libby” Lindler, and Louise Sherrill of Claremont, Carol Hoke of Union Mills, Martha Null of Conover, Lou Wilson of Surf City, and Carolyn Burton of Mebane, and three nephews, Coy Sherrill of Claremont, Dr. Fred Lopp of Greensboro, and David Lopp of Oklahoma City, Okla. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, May 15, 2004, at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Conover. The Rev. Merlin Batt will officiate and burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be men of the church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. today at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice or to Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 217 Second Ave., NE, Conover, N.C. 28613.
