Katherine SPENCER was born on 14 June 1909 in Catawba County, North Carolina.¹³⁴⁵ She died on 31 December 2009 at the age of 100 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Katherine Spencer "Nana" Bolick, 100, of Conover, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Mrs. Bolick was born June 14, 1909, in Catawba County, daughter of the late Dallas F. Spencer Sr. and Hester Leona Miller Spencer. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, a lifetime member of Chapter 155 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and worked in the hosiery industry until her retirement. In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee "Jack" Bolick; daughter, Jackie B. Whitener; and 11 brothers and sisters. Katherine is survived by her sons, Roger E. Bolick and wife, Shelbia, of Cartersville, Ga., Richard D. Bolick and wife, Betty, of Conover, and Wally L. Bolick of Carson City, Nev.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, James D. Spencer of Jasper, Ala. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Drum Funeral Home in Conover, followed by a private graveside service for the family. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley for the wonderful care they gave to their mother during her stay there. Katherine SPENCER and Charles Lee "Jack" BOLICK were married before 1926. Charles Lee "Jack" BOLICK, son of Marcus Elkanah [Bolch] BOLICK and Mary J. SMITH, was born on 22 November 1906 in Gaston County, North Carolina. He died on 6 August 1963 at the age of 56 in Catawba County, North Carolina.
