Lawson Theodore "Ted" KANUPP was born on 29 September 1919 in Catawba County, North Carolina.2790 He died after several years of declining health on 17 December 2003 at the age of 84 in Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in New Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Lawson Theodore “Ted” Kanupp, 84, of Kanupp Drive, Newton, died Dec. 17, 2003, at his residence after several years of declining health. Born Sept. 28, 1919, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Edward and Louetta Hawn Kanupp. A member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, where he received the Lamb Award and was a former assistant Sunday school superintendent and assistant Sunday school teacher. On the church council, he was a scout master, retired from Shuford Mills and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by three brothers, A.D. Kanupp, Tom Kanupp and Gordon Kanupp. Survivors include his wife, Louise Reinhardt Kanupp of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward Lee Kanupp and wife, Ann, of Hickory; a grandson, Thad Kanupp of Hickory; a granddaughter, Callie Kanupp of Hickory; two nieces, Ruth Perkins of Newton and Betty Austin of Maiden; and a nephew, Ralph Kanupp of Hickory. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Randall Cauble at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at the church from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
