Martha Emilyn WAGNER was born on 6 September 1923 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 19 January 2010 at the age of 86 in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: TAYLORSVILLE - Martha Emilyn Wagner, 86, passed away Jan. 19, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Emilyn was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Catawba County to the late Theodore B. and Lelia Teague Wagner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Teague Wagner, and a niece, Joy Wagner Bailey. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and served in many capacities. She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught 24 years at Hiddenite Elementary School. She was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College and earned her master's of religious education degree at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. She served as education director at Memorial in Williamston and First Baptist Church, Newton, and also in Clanton and Gadsden, Ala. At Baptist Bible Institute in Graceful, Fla., she was secretary to the president. She went on numerous summer mission trips in the U.S. and was a friend to many foreign missionaries. Surviving are a sister, Rachel Wagner of the home; brothers, Carl B. Wagner and wife, Lucy, of Hudson and Oren H. Wagner and wife, Betty, of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Fran Cope of Cary; nephews, Ben Wagner and David Wagner and wife, Susan, all of Hudson, and Frank Wagner Jr. and wife, Carrie, of Martinez, Ga.; great-nephews, John David Wagner and Mark Wagner; and great-nieces, Lauren and Elizabeth Wagner. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Revs. Chris Meade, Karl Schmidt and Kenneth Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 7500 N.C. 127, Taylorsville, N.C. 28681.
