Leonard L. BOWMAN was born on 23 January 1944 in Alexander County, North Carolina. He died on 14 December 2007 at the age of 63 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was buried in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: TAYLORSVILLE - Leonard L. Bowman, 63, passed away in Elizabeth, N.J., on Dec. 14, 2007. Born Jan. 23, 1944, in Alexander County, he was the son of Sarah Stafford Bowman and the late Tollie L. Bowman. Leonard was a career truck driver, with almost 40 years on the road. He was a member of Friendship Lutheran Church in Taylorsville. He was a loving son, husband, brother and father. Leonard never met a stranger and he will be remembered for his friendly and outgoing personality. Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanette Bolick Bowman of the home; mother, Sarah Stafford Bowman; a sister, Emily Isenhour and husband, Carrell, of Taylorsville; a daughter, Dana Bowman Hughes of Maiden; stepsons, Bobby A. Lail Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Hickory, Richard F. Lail Sr. and wife, Kathy, of Carrollton, Ga., and Steven Darrell Lail of Catawba; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at noon today, Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Catawba Funerals & Cremations, with the Revs. Phil Thorsen and Todd Rauscher officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon, prior to the service.
