Atha Lafay SETZER, daughter of John Vestus SETZER and Zella Rena DRUM, was born on 28 August 1924 in Catawba County, North Carolina.²⁶⁵⁷ She died on 14 December 2005 at the age of 81 in Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Conover, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows:²⁶⁵⁸ CLAREMONT - Atha Lafay Setzer, 81, of N.C. 10, East, Claremont, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at Conover Nursing Home. Born Aug. 28, 1924, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late John Vestus Setzer and the late Rena Drum Setzer. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Conover. In addition to her parents, three brothers, Huitt, Boyd and J.D. Setzer preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Setzer of the home; a son, Rick Setzer and wife, Sue Lynn, of Simpsonville, S.C.; two daughters, Brenda Coker and husband, Stacy, of Laurel, Md., and LaDonna Bost and husband, John, of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Grace Hoke, Helen McGee and Nola Cline, all of Conover; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Conover, with the Rev. Justin Kane officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Coker, Eric Coker, Darwin Cline, Brian Hancock, Charles Poovey and David Setzer. The family will receive friends tonight, Friday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Newton. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2448 Emmanuel Church Road, Conover, N.C. 28613. Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Setzer family. She was buried in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Conover, North Carolina.
