Born Dec. 10, 1931, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Vance Wesley Drum and Ester Edna Campbell Drum. A member of Living Word Church in Maiden, he was a former officer with the Maiden Police Department and was in the Civil Air Patrol. In addition to his parents, one daughter, Rebecca Diane Drum; and one sister, Juanita D. Dill, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline Rhyne Drum of the home; a daughter, Teresa Elaine Burke of Hickory; two grandsons, Glen York Jr. and Bradley York of Hickory; a granddaughter, Shelia Burke Mellon of Fayetteville; three sisters, Louise D. Ward and Betty Sue D. Wood of Iron Station and Peggy D. Hodge of Vale; a brother, Thomas F. Drum III of Iron Station; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Monday, May 21, 2007, at Living Word Church in Maiden, with the Revs. Mike Ainsworth and Garland Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Maiden City Cemetery in Maiden. The family will receive friends today, Monday, May 21, 2007, from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at Living Word Church in Maiden, prior to the service.
