3803. Lester Mack HERMAN was born on 3 September 1926 in Gaston County, North Carolina. He died on 17 July 2007 at the age of 80 in Maiden, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in St. Matthews Reformed (UCC) Church Cemetery, Maiden, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: MAIDEN - Lester Mack Herman, 80, of Bost Nursery Road, Maiden, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at his residence. Born Sept. 3, 1926, in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Emmitt Herman and Cloie Cline Herman. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving in World War II. He was a member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Maiden and American Legion Post 509. He retired from Vermont American. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Herman; a brother, Frank Herman; a sister, Katherine Vallot; and a grandson, Brian Wilson. Survivors include a wife, Lyndell "Vick" Herman of the home; two sons, Dennis Herman and wife, Judy and Anthony Herman and wife, Terri, all of Maiden; a daughter, Rita Beard and husband, Mike, of Maiden; two brothers, Bandy Herman of Wilson and Earl Herman of Dallas; a sister, Verna Hovis of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007, at St. Matthews United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Merlin Batt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at St. Matthews United Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to St. Matthews United Church of Christ, P.O.
