His obituary appeared as follows: CLAREMONT - Robert Preston Hedrick Sr., 87, of Claremont, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at Hospice House of Catawba Valley in Hickory. Born Aug. 6, 1917, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Robert Pinkney and Minnie Lail Hedrick. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was a retired furniture worker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Vivian S. Hedrick of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Preston Hedrick Jr. and Christina Hedrick of Claremont and Tommy H. and Frances Hedrick of Bethlehem; five grandchildren, Bobby Hedrick, David Hedrick and Dale Hedrick of Claremont, Jason Hedrick of Bethlehem and Karen Pope of Statesville; two stepgrandchildren, Anthony Breedlove of Hickory and Ginger Gromlovits of Fayetteville; six great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. A service of remembrance will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2005, at Bethel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Craig Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 5759 Bolick Road, Claremont, N.C. 28610.
