Edna Ila LAIL was born on 20 August 1929 in Catawba County, North Carolina.²⁶⁰⁷ She died on 21 December 2007 at the age of 78 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Edna Ila Saine, 78, of Conover, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton. Born Aug. 20, 1929, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Obie Lail and Hattie Hedrick Lail. Mrs. Saine was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hickory. She was a dedicated Christian who devoted her life to her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward "Jim" Saine; son, Kenneth William Saine; sister, Katie Eckerd; and brothers, Clarence Lail, Arthur Lail, Ralph Lail and Gaither Lail. Survivors include her son, Richard Stephen "Dick" Saine and his wife, Kathy, of Claremont; daughter-in-law, Lois Saine of Conover; grandchildren, Amanda "Mandy" Saine Burgess of Newton and Stephen Adam Saine of San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Daly Burgess and Dawson Burgess; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hickory, with the Rev. Richard Schwandt officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658.
