Bonnie Joyce SIGMON was born on 20 November 1936 in Catawba County, North Carolina.1668 She died on 1 January 2008 at the age of 71 in Conover, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Bonnie Sigmon Danton died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at her residence on Third Avenue Drive, NW, in Conover. She was 71 and a native of Claremont. Born in Catawba County on Nov. 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles Long Sigmon and Lura Belle Earnhardt Sigmon of Claremont. Ms. Danton attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (then the Woman's College of the University of N.C.) and graduated in 1959 from Lenoir-Rhyne College. She was a juvenile caseworker for the Catawba County Department for Social Services for approximately 20 years. Ms. Danton was a Catawba County Master Gardener. She is survived by her brother, Les C. Sigmon of Denver, and two aunts, Mrs. Sue Norris of Monroe and Mrs. Louise Cobb of Charlotte. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in the chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton, officated by the Rev. Dr. William K. Hollar Jr., a pastor at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Claremont, where Ms. Danton was a member, and the Rev. Richard P. Browning of Conover. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday, prior to the memorial service. A private burial service will take place in St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Claremont. The family has suggested memorials be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 550, Claremont, N.C. 28610 or Humane Society of Catawba County, P.O. Box 63, Hickory, N.C. 28603. Ms. Danton's family entrusted funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.
