SPENCER, was born on 22 November 1918 in Iredell County, North Carolina. She died on 6 March 2008 at the age of 89 in Lutheran Home East, Hickory, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Cora Clontz Lail, 89, of Hickory, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Lutheran Home-East. Born Nov. 21, 1918, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Sarah Spencer Clontz. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence P. Lail, and a son, John Raymond Lail. Mrs. Clontz is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Roger C. and Elise Lail of Charlottesville, Va., Gary L. and Jennie Lail of Hickory and Keith A. Lail of Newton; daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn L. and Tommy Hefner of Hickory, and Carolyn L. and Rosco Troutman of Hickory; brothers, Garland Clontz, Oscar Clontz, Edgar Clontz, Ernest Clontz, Hubert Clontz, Dallas Clontz, Earl Clontz, Henry Clontz and Frank Clontz; sisters, Sadie Beard and Etha White; 11 grandchildren, Devan Lail, Dana Helms, Christopher and Nikki Hefner, Andrew Lail, Wendy, Rashea and Heather Troutman, Sean Lail, Kristen Freeman and Derek Lail; and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Mrs. Lail will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008, in Bass-Smith Funeral Home's Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Lindsay officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Sean Lail, Christopher Hefner, Andrew Lail, Derek Lail and Nick (Jr.) Huffman and Charles White.
