655. Enoch Hardy "Hardie" SPENCER , Rev. was born on 10 February 1884 in Alexander County, North Carolina.¹³⁵³ He died after 10 February 1964 at the age of 80. Eastview Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC is the following historical marker sponsored by the Men's Bible Class:

Honoring the Rev. Mr. Enoch Hardy Spencer on his 80th birthday 10 Feb 1964.
Early in 1912 a band of people met for Sunday School in Mr. Spencer's Home. In 1913 the group organized a Methodist Society. After being Superintendent of the Sunday School for 8 yrs. Mr. Spencer entered the Methodist Ministry in 1920 and served effictively for 26 years, retiring in 1946. The Rev. Mr. Spenc ver returned home to Newton. He became teacher of the Mens Bible Class in Oct. 1956
The Methodist Society organizxed in 1913 eventually became Abernethy Memorial Methodist Cnurch and was embraced by the Blue Ridge Atlantic and Western NC Conference respectively.

Emma Rosela HUDSON was born on 11 January 1921 in Rutherford County, North Carolina.¹³⁵⁵ She was buried in February 2002 in Eastview Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina.¹³⁵⁵ She died on 21 February 2002 at the age of 81 in Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina.¹³⁵⁵ I wonder if Enoch Hardy Spencer had three wives.Or do you think there is an Rev. Emma Rosela Hudson Spencer 81, of 2469 Coley Fish Pond Road, Newton, died Feb 21, 2002 at her residence. she was born Jan 11, 1921 in Rutherford County. She was a member of Abernathy Memorial Methodist Church of Newton and was a homemaker and a former employee of Southern Furniture in Newton.

She was proceded in death by her parents, her husband Rev. E.H. Spencer.

Survivors include a son and a daughter in law John Spencer Jr. and Linda Spencer of the home, Two grandchildren John Spencer Jr., Wanda K. Spencer Johnson, Two great Grandchildren, Christopher Aron Johnson, Angela Johnson,

the funeral service will be help at 2pm Sat Feb 23, 2002 at Drum Funeral Home. The Rev. C. B. Barr will officiate and buriel will be in Eastview Cemetery. The family will recieved friends Friday Feb 22, 2002 at the funeral home.
