Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Louise Mary Spencer, 82, of Hickory, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the N.C. State Veterans Home in Salisbury. Born April 3, 1930, she was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where she volunteered. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of numerous quilting guilds where she held an officer position. She was a volunteer in the gift shop at Frye Regional Medical Center for over 20 years where she was on the board of volunteers. Louise was in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 22 years, Clyde Spencer, Sr. Louise is survived by daughters, Barbara Keller and husband, Terry, of Hickory, and Nancy Brandon and husband, Stewart, Sr., of Madison, Alabama; son, Clyde Spencer, Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Ferris officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Catawba Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to N.C.
