Dallas Washington CLONTZ Jr was born on 26 December 1925 in Catawba County, North Carolina.²³³⁷ He died on 27 June 2010 at the age of 84 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Dallas Washington Clontz Jr., 84, passed away June 27, 2010, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba County. Dallas was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Catawba County to the late Dallas Sr. and Anne Baker Clontz. He was also preceded in death his wife, Muriel Gilbert Clontz, on July 22, 2003; a grandson, Curtis Gragg, and a brother, Cecil Clontz. He was a member of Springs Road Baptist Church where he had served as past deacon. He was retired from Sears after 33 years in the service department. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy in World War II and was a serving during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Dallas was a member of American Legion Post 48. Surviving is his daughter, Jane Morrison of Hickory; son-in-law; Steve Morrison of Statesville; grandson, Ritchie Gragg and wife, Teresa, of Hickory; great-grandsons, Christopher Gragg, Cody Gragg and Dallas Gragg, all of Hickory, and Tyler Gragg and Timothy Gragg, both of Lincolnton, and a great-great-grandson, Curtis Gragg of Danville, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 29, 2010, from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. at Springs Road Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 29, at 3 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Tim Shook and the Rev. Jeffrey Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 48.
