Earl Henry PROPST was born on 23 June 1933 in Catawba County, North Carolina.2934 He died on 10 July 2008 at the age of 75 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Earl Henry Propst, 75, of Section House Road, died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born June 23, 1933, he was the son of the late Luther Brice Propst and Eva Catherine Lail Propst. A professional brick mason, for more than 30 years Earl was a dedicated Scout Master at Mount Zion Lutheran Church (ELCA), where he was a member. He earned numerous Scouting awards. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Ann Settlemyre Propst of the home; a daughter, Christina Gail Propst of Hickory; two sons, Keith Earl Propst and Scott Luther Propst of Hickory; a sister, Barbara Keever of Conover; a grandchild, Tristen Brice Propst; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A Celebration of Earl's Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Mount Zion Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Conover, with the Revs. Dr. David M. Seymour and Bob Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, with military rites provided by members of American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Saturday, July 12, 2008, in the church fellowship hall. Pallbearers will be leaders and members of Scout Troop 235. Honorary pallbearers will be leaders and members of Cub Scout Troop 235. Memorials may be made to Boy Scout Troop 235, Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 4420 County Home Road, Conover, N.C. 28613-9641. Earl Henry PROPST and Sylvia Ann [Settlemire] SETTLEMYRE were married on 22 December 1954 in Catawba County, North Carolina.2934 Sylvia Ann [Settlemire] SETTLEMYRE, daughter of Lonsdale Joseph [Settlemire] SETTLEMYRE and Era Margretta HUNT, was born on 11 December 1935 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 13 October 2012 at the age of 76 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: Sylvia Ann Settlemyre Propst, 76 of Section House Road, Hickory died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Born December 11, 1935 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Lonsdale Joseph Settlemyre and Era Margareta Hunt Settlemyre. Sylvia was a devoted mother and loving sister. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She worked for North Western Bank and Bank of Granite and was an avid Pink Floyd fan. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature and was quick witted. In addition to her husband, Earl Henry Propst; a brother, Charles Settlemyre; and a sister, Betty Gail Settlemyre Drum preceded her in death. A daughter, Christina Huffman of Hickory; two sons, Keith Earl Propst of Hickory and Scott Luther Propst of Hickory; two brothers, John Settlemyre and wife Linda of Hickory and David Settlemyre and wife Elaine of Newton; a sister in law, Billy Jo Settlemyre of Maiden; a grand-son, Tristen Brice Propst; and several nieces and nephews survive her. The Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Pastor Robert J. Stevens will officiate.
