Nellie Jean HUFFMAN was born on 29 September 1927 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 23 September 2011 at the age of 83 in Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Nellie Huffman Robertson, 83, of Catawba County died Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 at her home in Newton. Born Sept. 29, 1927 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Lee J.M. Huffman and Jessie P. Huffman. She was a member of Beth Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Edna H. Whitworth, Louise H. Beach, Louetta H. Nicholson, and Anita H. Morris; brothers, Lee C. Huffman, and Ervin Huffman; and a great-grandson, Joshua Cole Arnder. Survivors include her husband, of 67 years, Charles T. Robertson of Newton; her son, Gen. (USAF ret.) C.T. Robertson, Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Fort Myers, Fla.; her daughters, Catherine R. Kahrs and her husband, W. Henry Kahrs of Goose Creek, S.C., and Cheryl Annette Viehmeyer of North Wilkesboro; a brother, Dolan L. Huffman and his wife, Betty of Hickory; a sister Larue Isenhour and her husband, Bill of Goldsboro; sisters-in-law; Reba Huffman of Hickory, and Pat Huffman of Hickory; grandchildren, Sean T. Robertson, Jason S. Robertson, Benjamin D. Kahrs, Jennifer M. Kahrs, Tara B. Handy, and Amber B. Arnder; and great-grandchildren, Brennan Arnder, Trey Handy, Taylor Handy, Trystan Handy, Sebastian Robertson, Lilah Robertson, Jack Kahrs, and Gavin Kahrs. A service of remembrance will be held today, Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. Merlin T. Batt officiating. A private family entombment will be held on Wednesday at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 3:45 p.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.
