5702. Bruce Leonard WARREN was born on 18 August 1944. He died about 30 August 2009 at the age of 65. His obituary appeared as follows: Warren, Bruce Leonard - He was born Aug. 18, 1944, in Catawba County to the late Aaron L. Warren and Myrtle Rudisill Warren. Bruce served as police chief for the town of Brookford for 28 years and was a reserve officer for seven years. He loved his community and doing his job protecting and serving the people he saw sitting on their front porches as he walked to and from school. He believed in giving people a chance. He enjoyed helping young people who might be interested in going into law enforcement. He also enjoyed shooting pool, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Ann Holsclaw Warren of Hickory; daughters, Sandie Sudduth and husband, Richard, of Snow Hill and Pamela Robinson and Donna Lauterbach and husband, Doug, of Hickory; grandchildren, Magen Martin, Christopher Davis, Cameron Lauterbach, Benjamin Lauterbach, Breanna Young, Carson Sudduth and Haley Sudduth; a great-granddaughter, Brooke Miller; and brothers, Howard Warren of Matthews and David Warren of Claremont. A service of remembrance will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
