Jack B. HEFNER was born on 31 August 1932 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 1 June 2010 at the age of 77 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Jack B. Hefner, 77, of Kool Park Road, Hickory, passed away June 1, 2010, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Jack was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Catawba County to the late Earl O. and Cora Ann Propst Hefner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Smith Hefner; six brothers; and one sister. He was a retired electrician and formerly was owner and operator of Viewmont Sandwich Shop, a member of VFW Hickory Post 1957, and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. Services will be Friday, June 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Duke officiating. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home following the funeral service. Surviving are daughters, Cindy H. Deal of Taylorsville and Jean Clark and husband, Lynn, of Conover; son, Darrell Hefner of Hickory; granddaughter, Audrey Deal of Taylorsville; and a brother, Claude Hefner of Charlotte.
