Harold Milton HEFNER was born on 10 April 1924 in Catawba County, North Carolina.2076 He died on 28 May 2008 at the age of 84 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina.2076 His obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Harold Milton Hefner, 84, of Conover, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Catawba Valley Medical Center after a period of declining health. Mr. Hefner was born April 10, 1924, in Catawba County, a son of the late John Henry Hefner and Jennie Lail Hefner. He was a lifelong member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church and retired from the Catawba County School Maintenance Department, where he was employed as a cabinet maker. He served his country as a tech sergeant with the United States Army Corps of Engineers during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ira Hefner, Hubert Hefner, Dewey Hefner and Ernest Hefner, and two sisters, Cleo Killian and Evelyn Craig. Mr. Hefner is survived by his wife, Doris Sigmon Hefner of Conover; son, Phillip Hefner and his wife, Joann, of Charlotte; a sister, Alma Lee Isenhour of Hickory; and a brother, Delmar Carol "DC" Hefner of Granite Falls. A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. David M. Seymour officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
