5254. James Butler SIGMON was born on 18 July 1930 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 7 March 2009 at the age of 78 in Claremont, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in St. John's Lutheran Church (MO Synod) Cemetery, Conover, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: James Butler Sigmon, 78, of Claremont, went home to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at his residence. Born July 18, 1930 in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Claude Edgar Sigmon and Carrie Victoria Hefner Sigmon. A lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, he served with the United States Navy during the Korean War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Harold Sigmon, and a brother, Ray Sigmon. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mildred “Mickey” Klaus Sigmon; daughters, Vickie Sigmon of Little River, SC, and Cindy Miller and husband, Chuck of Claremont; sons, Jamie Sigmon and wife, Susan of Gastonia, NC, Jeff Sigmon of Claremont, Jon Sigmon and wife, Kay of Blowing Rock, NC and Jerry Sigmon and wife, Deana of Claremont; grandchildren, Jessica Sigmon, Tracy Adams, Justin Miller, Jennifer Miller, Joshua Sigmon, Carrie Sigmon, Jesse Sigmon, Ronnie Cook, Jr., Kendra McCombs, Jamin Sigmon, and Kristin Sigmon; great-grandchild, Jayden Zinn; and sisters, Claudine Tubbs of Pittsburgh, PA, Ruby Wallace of Conover, and Jean Harris and husband, Wilson of Maiden. A service of remembrance will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Conover, NC, with the Revs. Scott Johnson and Anton Lagoutine officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the North Carolina National Guard. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service the church. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men’s Bible Study Group of St. John’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2126 St. John’s Church Road, Conover, NC 28613. She was born on 19 March 2010 in Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CLAREMONT - Mildred "Mickey" Klaus Sigmon, 73, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, of Claremont, went home to be with her heavenly Father surrounded by her family on Friday, March 19, 2010. Born Jan. 24, 1937, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Harold Charles Klaus and Metta Louise Smith, and also granddaughter of the late Rev. Prof. C.O. Smith. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hickory In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Sigmon, and a son, Harold Eugene Sigmon. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jamie Sigmon and wife, Susan, of Gastonia, Jeff Sigmon and Jerry Sigmon and wife, Deana, all of Claremont, and Jon Sigmon and wife, Kay, of Blowing Rock; daughters and son-in-law, Vickie Sigmon of South Carolina and Cindy Miller and husband, Chuck, of Claremont; sister, Carolotta Spruill and husband, Robert, of Hickory; grandchildren, Jessica Sigmon, Tracy Adams, Carissa Sigmon, Joshua Sigmon, Justin Miller, Jennifer Miller, Jamin Sigmon, Kristin Sigmon, Jesse Sigmon, Ronnie Cook Jr. and Kendra McCombs; and a great-grandchild, Jayden Zinn. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hickory. The Rev. Richard Schwandt will officiate.
