4340. Dale Stewart BUMGARNER was born on 10 April 1930 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 17 January 2012 at the age of 81 in Conover, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER Dale Stewart Bumgarner Sr., 81, of Conover passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at his residence. Born April 10, 1930, he was the son of Olen L. Bumgarner and Ella Huffman Bumgarner. Mr. Bumgarner was the owner of New-Con Electric Company. He worked at one of the earliest nuclear power plants, Oakridge Power Plant in Tennesee, in the electrical department. Dale was a member of Millers Lutheran Church in Hickory where he held offices in the Brotherhood and an active member of Conover Lions Club. Mr. Bumgarner was a volunteer fireman in Wyoming. He loved to travel out west and dancing at the Le Dance Club with his wife. Dale was an avid mentor and dedicated father and husband. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Kate Miller and Helen Moser; and brother, R. A. Bumgarner. Dale is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sarah Ann Manners Bumgarner; daughter, Shelley Lutz and her husband, Eddy of Terrell; sons, Kenny Bumgarner and his wife, Katherine, of Pinehurst, and Dale Stewart Bumgarner, Jr. and his wife, Terri, of Conover; grandchildren, Brandi Martin and her husband, Mikeal, Lance Bumgarner and his wife, April, Tyler Bumgarner and his wife, Christie, Alexandra Bumgarner, Logan Bumgarner, Ryan Lutz, Sarah Lutz, Peyton Bumgarner, Derek Bumgarner, and Victoria Bumgarner; great-grandchildren, Trevor Martin, Gavin Martin, Cooper Bumgarner, Hailey Bumgarner, and Aslynn Bumgarner. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Millers Lutheran Church in Hickory with the Revs. John Woodard and Jason Sigmon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Millers Lutheran Church, Heating and Air Conditioning Fund, 2280 12th Avenue NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
