His obituary appeared as follows:2670 SHERRILL, Mal Adrian NEWTON - Mal Adrian Sherrill, 78, of Newton, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Abernethy Laurels. Born March 9, 1927, in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Hoke Smith and Julia Esther Guffey Sherrill. He was the owner/operator of Mal’s Tire Service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Conover and was active in the United Methodist Men’s Group. He was an avid fisherman and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Cory Adrian Sherrill; and a son-in-law, John Mosteller. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Glenna Drum Sherrill of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Deborah Cashion and husband, Jerry, of Hickory, Rhonda Williamson and husband, Wayne, of Charlotte and Mala Sherrill of Conover; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Cashion, Adrienne Cashion, Trey Abernathy, Ben Williamson, Stephen Williamson, Thomas Chambers and Melissa Brantner; five great-grandchildren, Sidney Cashion, Dakota Horton, Kalie Chambers, Dawson Chambers and Devon Chambers; and three brothers, Hal Sherrill of Mooresville, George Sherrill of Troutman and Max Sherrill of Catawba. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at First United Methodist Church in Conover. The Revs. Mickey Moree and Dixon Adams will officiate. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, at Drum Funeral Home in Conover. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O.
