51. Moses HERMAN was born on 5 February 1812 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.174 He was a cabinet maker. His record in the War Between the States is as follows:175 He served during the civil war as a 1st Lieutenant in Co. P, 89th Regiment, NC Militia. He died on 6 August 1891 at the age of 79 in Catawba County, North Carolina.174 Moses was buried in Old St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC. Inscriprtion reads: Aged 79y 6m 1d Moses served in the military (Civil War) in 1864/5. He was a first lieutenant in Company P, 89th Regiment, NC Militia.

Moses HERMAN and Maria Margaretha "Peggy" HUNSUCKER were married on 4 October 1837 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. Maria Margaretha "Peggy" HUNSUCKER, daughter of John Theobald HUNSUCKER and Barbara Ann SMITH, was born on 2 March 1814 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. She died on 19 February 1877 at the age of 62 in Catawba County, North Carolina. gravestone identifies her as "Mary, wife of Moses Herman, Aged 79y 6m 1d" She was buried in Old St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC. Inscription reads: Aged 62y 11m 17d

Darius L. HERMAN was born on 15 June 1845 in Catawba County, North Carolina. His record in the War Between the States is as follows:176 HERMAN, DARIOUS L., Private, Company E, McRae's Battalion N.C. Cavalry. Born in Catawba County where he resided prior to enlisting in Burke County October 5, 186.3 for the war. Present or accounted .for until transferred to Company H, 28th Regiment N. C. Troops when this battalion disbanded in June 1864.

HERMAN, DARIOUS L., Private, Company H, 28th Regiment, NC Troops. Records of Company E, McRae's Battalion N.C. Cavalry, indicate he was transferred to this company in June, 1864; however, records of this company do not indicate that he served herein. He died on 15 August 1864 at the age of 19. He was buried in Old St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC. gravestone reads: Aged 19y 2m, Member of the 28 NC Regt Darius enlisted in Burke Co 5 Oct 1863; he was a member of the 28 NC Regiment in the War Between the States, a Private, Co E, McRae's Batallion, NC Cavalry. He was present or accounted for until he transferred to Co H,
28th Regiment NC Troops when McRae's Batallion disbanded in Jun 1864.
Co H records however do not indicate that he served therein.

Wilburn Sylvanus HERMAN was born on 13 December 1847 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 8 March 1865 at the age of 17. His record in the War Between the States is as follows:177 HERMAN, W. S., Private, Enlisted at Camp Stokes, near Greensboro, January 4, 1865, for the war. Hospitalized at Greensboro on January 21, 1865, with catarrh. Hospitalized at Raleigh on February 11, 1865, with catarrh and diarrhoea. Furloughed from hospital for twenty-one days on February 17, 1865. No further records. [His surname may have been Harman or Harmon.] He was buried in Old St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC. gravestone reads: Aged 17y 2m 25d, Member of 8 NC Batt. Wilburn was a member of 8th NC Battalion in Civil War.

Lydia LONGCRIER, daughter of Jacob LONGCRIER and Catherine "Laty/Katie" [Bolch] BOLICK, was born on 5 September 1825 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.179 She died on 20 February 1906 at the age of 80 in Catawba County, North Carolina.180 She was buried in St. John's Lutheran Church (MO Synod) Cemetery, Conover, Catawba County, NC.
