Minnie R. FORTENBERRY, daughter of Jesse Clem FORTENBERRY and Nora Jane BRADSHAW, was born on 21 April 1923 in Burke County, North Carolina. She died on 25 May 2011 at the age of 88 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Minnie Fortenberry Lail, 88, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley following a period of declining health. Minnie was born April 21, 1923, in Burke County to the late Jesse Clem and Nora Jane Bradshaw Fortenberry . Minnie was a member of Wilkies Grove Baptist Church and retired from JP Stevens. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde C. Lowman, who passed away in 1977, and four sisters and three brothers. Surviving are her husband, Carl Henry Lail, of the home; two daughters, Peggy Bostain and her husband, Roger; Sherry Stilwell and her husband, Steve, of Hickory; two sons, Conley Low-man and his wife, Becky, of Hickory; Jeffrey Lowman and his wife, Terry, of Hickory; five step-daughters, Carolyn Mann and her husband, Gary, of Taylorsville; Phyllis Hood and her husband, Bryan, of Vale; Ruth Weaver and her husband, Mike, of Newton; Rebecca Moffett, of Kernersville; Carla Lail, of Hickory; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 28 step-great-grandchildren, and a brother, Jessie Forten-berry and his wife, Mavis, of Hickory. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, at 4 p.m. at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Adkins and Ray Raymer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday May, 26, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church.
