She retired from Hickory Springs Manufacturing where she was a gluer of foam cushions. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Hershel David Canipe, and two brothers, Floyd Ray Gilbert and Howard Lee Gilbert. Survivors include her sons, Boyd Lee Canipe and his wife, Sherri, of Conover; Billy Dean Canipe and his wife, Roxanne, of Conover; her grandchildren, Bryan M. Canipe and his wife Michelle; Jonathan B. Can-ipe, Kenneth D. Canipe, Adam T. Canipe; and her great-grandchild, Hunter D. Canipe. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with Rev. Steve Clark presiding. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, at Drum Funeral Home in Conover. He was the founder of Canipe Automotive and a deputy sheriff in Avery County for five years. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Conover. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Hoyle; and brothers, Emmitt Canipe, Clemmet Canipe and Grady Canipe. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Roaline Gilbert Canipe; sons, Boyd Canipe and his wife, Sherri, of Conover and Billy Canipe and his wife, Roxanne, of Conover; grandchildren, Bryan Canipe, Jonathan B. Canipe, Kenny D. Canipe and Adam T. Canipe; and great-grandson, Hunter D. Canipe. A service of remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010, in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover, with the Rev. Steve Clark officiating.
