4772. Anne HERMAN was born on 6 May 1932 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 24 December 2011 at the age of 79 in Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was buried in Claremont City Cemetery, Claremont, NC (St. Marks & Calvary Luth.). Her obituary appeared as follows: CATAWBA Anne Herman Gilbert, 79, of Catawba, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Born May 6, 1932, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Fred and Minnie Avaline Ervin Herman. Anne loved her family. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Claremont, where she served as the secretary for over 40 years and on the church council. She was a former secretary for Knitmode Mills in Newton and a former legal secretary of John McLauglin. She was formerly an active member of the Catawba County Historical Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bennett Gilbert; a step-daughter, Edith Bentley; and a grandson, James Morrow. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Brenda Jones of Taylorsville, and Jonathan and Deborah Jones of Conover; step-son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Tammy Gilbert of Conover; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Mike Lamb of Hickory and Brenda and Wayne Moore of Statesville; grand-children, Laura Gerstle, Jennifer Abugabal, Adam Jones, Anne Jones, Kelly Schaeffer, Amber Martin, Chelsey Gilbert, Scott Teubner, Crystal Moore, Victoria Bentley and Dinah Brown; and great-grandchildren, Abigale, Samara, Benjamin and Julian Gerstle, Nora, Ibraheem, and Nadia Abugabal, Hayden Schaeffer, Sullivan King, Jacob Teubner, Ethan Peott, Leyton Brown, Collin Brown. A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. The Rev. Wesley Frye will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the funeral. Memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 579, Claremont, NC 28610.
