5776. Larry Howard TURNER was born on 8 October 1941 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 4 March 2012 at the age of 70 in Conover, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER Larry Howard Turner, 70, of Conover died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at his residence. Born Oct. 8, 1941 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Howard Foy and Beatrice "Bedie" Naomi Pope Turner. Mr. Turner was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he had worked at H.T. Hackney and retired from CTH Furniture Company. He was a coach for St. Stephens Optimist, an avid sports fan and gardener and enjoyed fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Harley Ray Turner. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Shook Turner of the home; sons, William Todd Turner and his fiance, Dora Harrison of Conover and Tracy Ray Turner and his fiance, Leah Fox Lee of Taylorsville; daughter, Amy Turner Wade and her husband, Shane of Hickory; sister, Shirley Herman of Conover; grandchildren, Michael Turner, Latosha Turner, Chassity Wade, Brandon Wade, Haley Turner, Angel Estep, Dylan Herman, and Megan Huffstetler; and great-grandchild, McKenzie Turner. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. The Rev. Bobby Langston will officiate and burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park with military rites by Newton American Legion Post 16. Pallbearers serving the family will be Brent Pless, Todd Turner, Tracy Turner, Shane Wade, Michael Turner and Brandon Wade.
