1896. Jack Leroy HAWN was born on 10 July 1927 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died at his residence on 15 March 2012 at the age of 84 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Jack Leroy Hawn, Sr., 84, of Hickory, passed away March 15, 2012, at his residence. Born July 10, 1927, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Craig Winston Hawn and Suma Hedrick Hawn. Mr. Hawn was a member of Ambassador Baptist Church in Hudson and was former owner and president of Motor Freight Consolidation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Carl Hawn; sister, Pauline Hawn McCarter; daughter-in-law, Patricia Hawn; and son-in-law, Tim Dieter. Jack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Bailey Hawn of the home; daughters, Vickie Dieter of Hickory and Linda Ten Kate and husband, Jim, of Conover; sons, Jack L. Hawn, Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Conover and Edward Hawn of Hickory; grandchildren, Kevin Mahoney, Chris Dieter, Diane Dieter and Alex Hawn; great-granddaughter, Courtney Mahoney; brother, Ted Jones Hawn of Conover; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Rev. Robert Setzer officiating.
