She was buried in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery, north of Conover, Catawba County, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Almedia "Pearl" Martin Lail, 92, of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born Oct. 13, 1920, in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late Sherman S. and Laura Isenhour Martin. Pearl was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the church quilters in Conover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaither Ivo Lail; two sons, Gerald and Kenneth Lail; granddaughter, Kristen Carrigan; two sisters, Ollie Mae Miller and Louise Hawkins; and seven brothers, Flake, Ray, Bill, Arville, Ed, Ernest and Clate Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Slater and husband, Scott, of Old Fort; son, David Lail and wife, Beth, of Sebring, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Lail, of Hickory; three sisters, Grace Robbins, of Winston-Salem, Mary Ann Shumate, of Mt. Airy and Edith Hefner, of Conover; brother, Floyd Martin, of Newton; four granddaughters, Lori Strickland and husband, Ricky, Lisa Waugh and husband, Rodney, Lauren Connor and husband, Trent and Jenny Williams and husband, Frank; two grandsons, Zac Carrigan and J. D. Slater and wife, Catalina; great-granddaughter, Isa Slater; and six great-grandsons, Ryan and Cody Bateman, Justin Waugh and wife, Krissy, Alex Gouge, Tyler Waugh and Logan Williams. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Conover, with the Revs. Paul Birner and Matthew Schilling officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the service.
