4771. Larry Edgar SIGMON was born on 10 October 1932 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 5 August 2012 at the age of 79 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, North Carolina. He was buried in Shell Point Baptist Church cemetery, Shallotte, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: SHALLOTTE Larry Edgar Sigmon, 79, of Supply, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Mr. Sigmon was born Oct. 10, 1932, in Hickory, a son of the late James Edgar Sigmon and Gladys Frye Wilson. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and enjoyed gardening, yard work, the ocean, nature, and was an avid surf fisherman. Mr. Sigmon was a member of the Shell Point Baptist Church. He was a longtime fixture in the design, construction and marketing of the Hickory furniture industry and retired after over 40 years of service in the furniture business and then was self-employed and he continued to work for another 14 years until his recent illness. Surviving are his wife, Audrey Hefner Sigmon; sons, Bruce Sigmon, (Ginger), of Hickory, Larry "Butch" E. Sigmon, Jr., (Mindi), of Atlanta, Ga., and Rick Sigmon, of Newton; daughters, Denise Bumgarner, (Dennis), of Granite Falls, Cathy Bick, (Mike), of Mt. Holly, Lora Heath, (Perry), of Dayton, Tenn., and Tracy Moore, of Brunswick, Maine; sisters, Betty Joyce Sigmon, of Newton, Mary Alice Fisher, of Hickory, and Carolyn Kuchenbecker, of Newton; 20 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, in the Shell Point Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Revs. John Brooks and Tommy Inman. Visitation will be from 11 to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Casket bearers will be Jay Houston, Perry Heath, Jason Long, Gene Cumbee, Don Spivey, Kent Sigmon, and alternate Mark Long. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Shell Point Baptist Church, 3059 Shell Point Rd.
