2389. Sadie Elizabeth LOFTIN was born on 8 June 1909 in Catawba, Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 15 December 2007 at the age of 98 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: Catawba - Sadie Elizabeth Loftin Murray Lee, 98, of Conover Nursing, previously of Catawba, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born June 8, 1909, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Loftin and Ida Setzer Loftin. She was the oldest member of Pisgah United Methodist Church in Catawba. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon A. Lee of Catawba and Paul A. Murray of Claremont; brothers, Charlie, Theodore, Mike, Sam and Oscar Loftin; sisters, Elma Huffman, Thelma Connor Lanier, Allie Lee and Daisy Pearl Herman; a half brother, Roy Loftin; and half sisters, Floye Eller, Nannie Martin, Lillie Loftin and Verdie Lee Boggs Yount. She is survived by a son, Bill Murray and wife, Hassie, of Florida; daughters, Joyce Murray Setzer of Claremont and Linda Setzer and husband, Danny, of Newton; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Lee Murray and husband, Jack, of Claremont; a sister, Frances Loftin Cook of Catawba; grandchildren, Paulette Burns and husband, Larry, Diane Poovey and husband, Charles, Jay Setzer and wife, Jane, Eddie Murray and wife, Pam, Gary Murray and wife, Lorraine, and Jonathan Setzer and wife, Marie; step-grandchildren, Scotty Murray and wife, Sandy, and Patty Murray James and husband, Lewis; great-grandchildren, Scott Burns and wife, Cynthia, Kevin Poovey and wife, Michelle, Michael Poovey and wife, Jennifer, Jason Setzer and wife, Maria, Melissa Cornett and husband, Chris, Melissa Murray Grice and husband, Robbie, and Melinda Murray Monegan and husband, Reed; two stepgreat-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Catawba, with the Rev. Bob Silber officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Scotty Murray, Timmy Lee, Kevin Poovey, Michael Poovey, Jason Setzer and Scott Burns. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church, prior to the service. "Mattie" SIGMON, was born on 24 August 1909 in North Carolina.^2586,2587 He died on 23 February 1983 at the age of 73 in North Carolina.²⁵⁸⁷ He was buried in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery, Maiden, North Carolina.²⁵⁸⁷
