4366. D. Alan SPENCER was born on 12 November 1949 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 14 October 2012 at the age of 62 in Davis Regional Medical Center, Statesville, North Carolina. He was buried in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER D. Alan Spencer, 62, of Conover, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Davis Regional Medical Center in Statesville. Born Nov. 12, 1949, in Catawba County, he was the son of Margie Rowe Spencer of Conover, and the late Winford Joe Spencer, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra (Sandi) Hazelwood Spencer; and a brother, Winford Joe Spencer, Jr. A graduate of St. Stephens High School, he was a lifelong member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Mo. Synod in Hickory. He spent most of his career with Commscope and more recently with Gregory Wood Products. Alan enjoyed raising and running beagles. He loved being outside, especially when working in his garden. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them and his grandchildren. He is survived by his fianc‚e, Jennifer Sweitzer of Statesville; two daughters, Tambi Spencer Howard and husband, Joe, of Charlotte, and Taryn Spencer of Conover; a brother, Rick Spencer and wife, Renee, of Claremont; mother, Margie Rowe Spencer of Conover; five grandchildren, Dalan, Olivia, and Bailey Howard of Charlotte, Kiersan and Kaden Finger of Conover; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Mo. Synod with Pastor David Guelzow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
