Noah Woodrow MCGEE, son of Oliver Duffy MCGEE and Hattie Elizabeth WITHERSPOON, was born on 23 February 1917 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 20 July 2008 at the age of 91 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. He was buried in Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery, Newton, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Noah Woodrow McGee Sr., 91, of Conover, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born Feb. 23, 1917, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Oliver Duffy McGee and Hattie Witherspoon McGee. Mr. McGee served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the former owner of White Pines Restaurant and Excel Woodcarving and a former secretary and treasurer of the Catawba Valley Water Corp. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Newton and the owner of Building Specialties Inc. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Houser; and brothers, Mervin McGee, Joe McGee, Lee McGee and Clyde McGee. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Johnnie Jeanette Keener McGee; a daughter, Sandra Petrovich of Conover; sons, Noah Woodrow McGee Jr. and his wife, Joyce Garnes McGee, and Neal Alan McGee and his wife, Susan Dula McGee, all of Taylorsville, and Gary Wayne McGee and his wife, Susan Bryant McGee, and Larry Dean McGee and his wife, Terri Feimster McGee, all of Conover; nine grandchildren, Lisa Drum, Stephanie Caetta, Christopher McGee, Noah Woodrow "Chip" McGee III, Timothy McGee, Casey McGee, Haley McGee, Trace McGee and Josh McGee; and seven great-grandchildren. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Friendship United Methodist Church, with the Rev. R. Brad Thie officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends tonight, Monday evening, July 21, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
