Paul D. GILBERT, son of Perry D. GILBERT and Gracie THOMAS, was born on 31 July 1910 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. He died on 10 March 2005 at the age of 94 in Brian Center East, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Miller's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Paul David Gilbert, 94, of County Home Road, Conover, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Brian Center-East after a period of declining health. Born July 31, 1910, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Perry D. and Gracie Thomas Gilbert. A member of Miller’s Lutheran Church, he retired from M.G. Crouch. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Propes Gilbert; and a brother, Charlie Gilbert. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Miller of Conover and Brenda Gail Reed and husband, Wayne, of Hickory; two granddaughters, Terri Miller of Hickory and Amy Reed Jarrett and husband, Todd, of Vale; three grandsons, Robin Miller of Granite Falls, the Rev. Kenneth Wayne Reed Jr. and wife, Leslie, of China Grove and Kevin William Reed and wife, Stephanie, of Belmont; a sister, Era Wilkerson of Hickory; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. C. Pierson Shaw Jr. and Kenneth Wayne Reed Jr. at 4 p.m. Sunday at Miller’s Lutheran Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Hickory Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 tonight, Saturday.
